# Create Form

### How to Create Your First Form with CraftForms

When you add a new form in Craft Forms, the editor opens with a clean creation screen and the popped up modal "Choose a starter" that gives you three distinct paths to get started

#### Step 1 — Choose How to Start Your Form

<figure><img src="https://97821998-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FM2yV1foUgoGHBC66VBDw%2Fuploads%2Fum9dhrDCUMuMzJRgvDjV%2FSCR-20260924-lope.png?alt=media&amp;token=c7c82de8-74f6-42ce-b130-bbf2403ada9f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Option A: Form Starters** *(pre-configured templates)* At the top, you'll find ready-made form templates to help you hit the ground running. The FREE and PRO versions have different set of starters. The PRO version simply offers many more starters.

Click any starter to load it into the editor pre-configured — fields, settings and all.

> 💡 **Tip:** If you're just getting started, a Form Starter is the fastest way to have a working form live on your site — you can always customize it further once it's loaded in the editor.

***

**Option B: Start from Scratch** Prefer full control? Click **"Start from scratch"** to open a blank canvas in the form editor and build your form field by field, exactly how you want it.

<figure><img src="https://97821998-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FM2yV1foUgoGHBC66VBDw%2Fuploads%2FQmrLtIc3GSHyFbAFlQKy%2FSCR-20260924-lotu.png?alt=media&amp;token=f0c6d673-3645-4917-aba0-d9805c2fac85" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Option C: ⬆️ Import from File** If you've previously exported a form from Craft Forms, you can bring it back by clicking **"Import from file"**. This is handy for duplicating forms across sites or restoring a backup.

***

#### Step 2 — Name Your Form

Once the editor loads, look at the **Form panel on the right side**. You'll notice your form is initially called *"No title"*. To rename it, click the **three-dot menu (⋮)** next to the title — the tooltip in the screenshot helpfully labels this as **"Click here to rename"**.

<figure><img src="https://97821998-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FM2yV1foUgoGHBC66VBDw%2Fuploads%2FdcPhVSIvDJDlpfdkZao5%2FSCR-20260324-omve.png?alt=media&amp;token=50647f27-2d2d-4399-82ea-029063ab2dd1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Give your form a clear, descriptive name (e.g. *"Contact Form"*) so it's easy to identify in your forms list later.

Once you've chosen your starting point, named your form, and configured your settings, clicking the **Publish** button in the top-right corner of the editor is the final step to make your form live and ready to be embedded on your site.

You can also click **Save draft** if you're not ready to publish yet and want to come back to it later.

#### Blocks/custom blocks composition

<figure><img src="https://97821998-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FM2yV1foUgoGHBC66VBDw%2Fuploads%2FCJ8G0NeCc7bjHXp5oEJQ%2FSCR-20260325-nnqw.png?alt=media&amp;token=8c86d898-3794-447d-be5a-d028903ea45f" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Blue rectangles highlight CraftForms custom blocks. Block highlighted in red is a standard Gutenberg block. You can mix\&match standard and custom blocks as well as blocks from third partly libraries.

**Important: CraftForms form fields blocks must be inside "Form (CraftForms)" block. Otherwise such fields will not be recognized by the form and will not work!**
